What is SMILE laser eye
surgery and how does it work?

Since its FDA approval in 2016, SMILE laser eye surgery has been an excellent option for patients seeking to end their dependency on glasses and contact lenses.

At Clarity Laser Eye, patient comfort and premium vision are our top priorities. SMILE is performed with the ZEISS VisuMax femtosecond laser system. Using this advanced technology ensures excellent reproducibility and predictability, helping people with varying degrees of nearsightedness and astigmatism.

Since the opening created in a SMILE procedure is done with a laser and is 80% smaller than that of a traditional LASIK flap, this makes SMILE the only bladeless and flapless option to correct your vision.

You can expect the same great visual outcomes with SMILE as compared to LASIK, with a quicker healing time and a more comfortable recovery. In FDA studies, 90% of patients who received SMILE had 20/20 vision or better.

SMILE is the only minimally invasive laser vision correction solution. This less invasive approach means less disruption to the cornea for patients who suffer from dry eyes and irritation associated with CLI. The smaller opening created with SMILE, 80% smaller than that of a traditional LASIK flap, means less disruption to the cornea’s nerve fibers. These nerves play a key role in maintaining a normal healthy cornea, so patients who have SMILE have less incidence of post-operative dry eye than those with LASIK.
